Terms of use

Last updated 2 September 2026

These are the terms for using Iqra. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. By creating an account you agree to them.

What Iqra is

Iqra is a Quran recitation teacher. It listens to you recite, tells you where your articulation differed from the target, demonstrates the correct sound, and asks you to try again.

What Iqra is not

Iqra teaches you to recite. It does not replace a human teacher, a sanad, or an ijazah.

It does not grant an ijazah, does not place you in a chain of transmission, and its judgement of your recitation carries no authority of that kind. If you are seeking certification, you need a qualified human teacher. Iqra is for the days between those lessons, or for the time before you can find one.

Iqra is also not a source of religious rulings. It teaches pronunciation and recitation, and nothing it says should be taken as a fatwa or as guidance on matters of belief or practice.

Accuracy, and where it ends

Quranic text shown in Iqra is reproduced verbatim from an authoritative source and is never paraphrased, autocompleted, or generated.

The assessment of your recitation is a different matter. It is produced by automatic speech and pronunciation models, and it will sometimes be wrong — it may flag a sound you produced correctly, or miss one you did not. Explanations are generated by an AI model and can contain mistakes. Treat the feedback as a well-informed teacher’s opinion, not as a verdict, and check anything important with a qualified human.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. You need to be 13 or older to create one. Tell us at shahfaisalwani14@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

Recordings you contribute

If you record letters on the Contribute screen, you are giving us permission to store those recordings and use them to train and evaluate the models behind Iqra. You keep ownership of your voice; this is permission to use the recordings for that purpose, not a transfer of anything. Only contribute recordings of your own voice. You can ask us to delete them at any time — see the privacy page.

Using the service reasonably

Please do not:

  • upload audio that is not your own voice, or that you have no right to share;
  • try to break, overload, or work around the limits of the service, or access accounts and data that are not yours;
  • scrape or bulk-extract content from the service, or resell access to it.

We may suspend an account that does these things. If we do, and you think we got it wrong, email us.

Availability

Iqra is early software. It may be unavailable, may change, and may lose features. We do not promise uptime, and we are not able to offer compensation for time it is down. We will not delete your account or your progress without telling you.

Cost

Iqra is free to start. If paid plans are introduced, existing accounts will be told what changes before anything is charged, and nothing is ever charged without you actively agreeing to it.

Liability

Iqra is provided as it is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Ending it

You can stop using Iqra and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

If these terms change materially, we will update the date at the top and tell account holders by email.
